How to distinguish colored clay from ultra light clay?

Industry News

As an upgraded version of clay, colored clay has significantly improved craftsmanship and materials compared to clay, making it soft and non sticky to the hand. The main ingredients are flour, pigment, edible essence and purified water. After the colored clay has dried, adding an appropriate amount of water can restore its softness and have an environmentally friendly effect, making it suitable for kneading creative works.
Ultra light clay is also known as bouncing mud or light mud. It is a non-toxic, odorless, and non irritating new environmentally friendly handmade creative material, mainly composed of foaming powder, water, pulp, and paste. Due to its good hand feel, strong shaping ability, and natural air drying without cracking or deformation, it quickly replaced traditional clay, pottery, colored clay, etc., becoming a handicraft material for children and handicraft enthusiasts.

So how do we distinguish between colored clay and ultra light clay?
1. Check the material
Colored mud is mainly oily surface mud, which is usually very greasy. Because it has flavor, it will add a lot of essence;
The main material of ultra light clay is polymer foam powder, so it is not greasy, non-toxic, and tasteless.

2. Look at the color
Due to the main component being flour, colored clay is not easy to color and has a dull color, making it difficult to evenly mix the two colors;
Ultra light clay is a new type of material, with a much purer color. The two colors of clay can be kneaded together and mixed like watercolor.

3. Look at styling ability
Colored clay is actually not easy to shape, it is only suitable for making simple shapes, and it is made of flour, so it cannot be stretched;
The main material of ultra light clay is more malleable and cohesive than other materials. It can be formed by pulling Lamian Noodles as it is, or by thinking of any complex shape.

4. Ability to see patterns
The works made of colored clay have a heavy texture and require a long time for shaping, so they can be reused, but they are prone to cracking and spoilage after drying;
Ultralight clay is known for its light texture. It is like foam flakes after drying. It can be dried naturally after 30-60 minutes of air drying, and is not easy to deform and crack.
